LUMBER: Another flat week in the market, but mills are still looking to move some lumber and deals are out there to be made on some items. For sure it's not 2x12, as this is scarce and in very tight supply. Still waiting for what is true supply and demand. PANEL: Panel prices stayed flat to down. I look for further erosion here. LUMBER: Somewhat of another flat week with some downward pressure. Prices are getting dangerously low again for mills to survive. I look for the mill curtailments and closures to have a real effect in the weeks and months ahead. In any case it's a great time to build with lumber and not steel due to rising costs on all metals. LUMBER: A very flat week this week in the market. My sense is mills just don't want, or can't go much lower. Demand seemed steady but just not enough to bump prices up. LUMBER: Economic news is fair, housing starts are flat to down, demand is off, supply is trying to level out but there just not enough buyers. The modest run up we had for the last few weeks has evaporated and prices are off. The lone exception here is 2x12. There is a real, not artificial shortage and prices reflect that.
