Industry Forecast - Lumber Pricing & Market Predictions
LUMBER: After a short week we saw prices come off sharply, while demand stayed somewhat brisk. The chess match now begins, with this strong demand comes additional market strains such as extended lead times due to trucking issues, and most buyers are still waiting for material, priced higher than the current market, to be delivered, plus it looks as though prices will fall again this coming week. After nine months of lumber market gains, are we looking at a historic collapse in June?
PANEL: The panel market remained firm this week, breaking with the pattern of huge gains we've been seeing. This market has to come off in the near future and eventually settle, as buyers begin to take a "wait-and-see" approach.
